Investing Basics

Learning the basics of investing is not something that can be achieved in as short a space of time as Texas Hold’em Poker.  After you have selected the type of securities that you wish to invest in you should spend a considerable amount of time in teaching yourself the fundamentals of investing in that type of security.

Ideally, you would learn the investment basics while beginning to play Texas Hold’em poker.  Playing Texas Hold’em Poker can help to ingrain the fundamentals of investing psychology and risk management in your subconscious while you can learn the technical basics of how to invest in the securities of your choice.  You can incorporate your investment learning program into the business plan that you develop as described in the next chapter.

This book does not aim to teach readers the basics of investing because they are different for each type of security, despite the fact that the psychology is often similar.  There are a number of books that are generally recommended as classics for an introduction to investing.  They should be purchased and incorporated into your general learning program for investing.
